Court Reporting & Captioning Week
Each year in conjunction with the National Court Reporters Association, OCRA members help spread the message about the many unique opportunities, flexible schedules, and high earning potential careers in court reporting or captioning offer. For the 2025 Court Reporting & Captioning Week, OCRA Vice President Holly Goodwin and Director James Gardner joined NCRA on Capitol Hill for their Leadership and Legislative Boot Camp. There they participated in intensive training sessions and advocated in front of our elected representatives for guardrails on the spread of AI in our judiciary. |
In 2024, many of our members participated in Strides for Steno, an event offered by StenoStrides, a nonprofit organization that promotes verbatim reporting and supports students in their journey to 225 words per minute and beyond. The Strides for Steno event is their main source of fundraising, used to impact the reporting community and spread awareness about this great profession.
In 2020, OCRA released this Press Release across the state. On February 19th of the same year, Past Presidents Ryan White, Robin Nodland, and Carol Studenmund presented at Portland City Council stressing the importance and value of our profession and asked for support in Portland Community College opening a court reporting program. |
